Chen Dake, Honorary Chair, Sun Yat-sen University

Bio: Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Physical Oceanographer; Top-level Talent of Zhuhai City.

Academician Chen Dake has long been engaged in basic research in physical oceanography, making important achievements in the fields of coastal oceans, open oceans, and climate research, with research results of significant scientific and applied value. He has twice served as the Chief Scientist of the 973 Program project, presided over many national major and key fund projects, and served as the Academic Leader of the Innovation Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 170 papers and technical reports, including first and corresponding author articles in Nature, Science and their sub-journals, having a wide international impact. His current research focuses on the variation mechanism and predictability of El Niño, the interaction between the ocean and typhoons, and the basic theory of oceanic general circulation. He also promotes and plans a series of large-scale marine and polar research programs at the national level.
